Original Third Reich Early SA Dagger By Carl Eickhorn With Hanger-

This is a truly outstanding example of an early-pattern Sturmabteilung (SA) dagger, manufactured by the highly desirable and well-regarded maker Carl Eickhorn of Solingen, Germany. The dagger remains complete with its original brown anodized scabbard and RZM brown leather belt hanger, believed to be original to the piece.

Fittings & Grip: All fittings are solid nickel silver, including the crossguards and tang nut, which remain in very good to excellent condition with a pleasing, lightly aged patina. The reverse lower crossguard bears the Gau mark “Ho” for Hochland, properly positioned on the far right. The nickel tang nut shows no signs of tampering, and the grip remains tight to the tang.

The wooden grip features a rich red mahogany tone with a medium center ridge and a near-perfect fit to the guards. The SA roundel is well-set and retains most of its original dark brown enamel with only minimal aging. The early nickel eagle remains sharply detailed, showing crisp features in the beak, breast, wings, talons, wreath, and swastika—displaying only light wear and patina.

Blade: The blade is in excellent to near mint condition, retaining nearly all of its original crossgrain finish. The “Alles für Deutschland” etched motto is deep and crisp, though most of the original darkening has faded. Some typical runner marks are present, along with a few very minor gray spots, but the blade stands out as one of the highlights of this dagger.

Maker Markings: The reverse of the blade is clearly etched with the small Carl Eickhorn squirrel logo—appropriate for early production examples.

Scabbard & Hanger: The scabbard is straight and retains much of its original brown anodized finish and lacquer. Light surface wear and a small dent on the back are present but do not detract from its overall appearance. The solid nickel fittings exhibit honest age and patina, and all four original screws remain intact and undisturbed. The throat fitting matches the dagger’s crossguards perfectly.

Attached is an early brown leather hanger, RZM marked L2/338/41, in very good condition. The leather shows mild wear, particularly around the metal fixtures, but remains strong and serviceable. The metal hardware shows honest age and could benefit from conditioning, though it also presents well as-is for a fully original display.

Summary: This is an exceptional early SA dagger by the prestigious Solingen maker Carl Eickhorn, complete with its original scabbard and hanger. With its clean blade, beautifully matched fittings, and attractive grip, this piece would make a superb addition to any advanced edged weapons or Third Reich collection.
