This Bronze Panzer Assault Badge was produced by "EWE" and finely struck in zinc. It shows modest wear on the obverse, with its bronze finish remaining remarkably well-preserved. The front displays beautiful golden tones complemented by rich chocolate-brown hues in the recessed areas—creating a striking visual contrast.
The reverse features a smooth surface with the distinctive “EWE” maker mark located just below the hinge. While the exact manufacturer remains unidentified, it is widely believed to be Edelmetallwerke List & Hertl of Wien 89 (Vienna). Approximately 40% of the bronze finish remains on the reverse.
The hardware is textbook for this maker, including the classic “question mark” style wire catch. Notably, the catch has been soldered in reverse, likely due to a period repair. The soldering is cleanly done and appears consistent with wartime field or depot repairs. The hinge and slightly bent pin also suggest practical use, likely from being tugged or caught during wear.
Despite the minor solder repair, this badge retains excellent visual appeal and remains in good to very good condition. A fine example of an uncommon Panzer Assault Badge variant with strong display presence.
