RARE Original German WWII Luftwaffe Green-Painted Steel Belt Buckle by Gustav Brehmer Dated 1941
This is a scarce and highly sought-after 2nd-Model Luftwaffe steel belt buckle, factory-painted in dark green for tropical issue. It bears the maker’s mark “GB” for Gustav Brehmer of Markneukirchen, a well-known wartime manufacturer.
Tropical-painted Luftwaffe buckles—especially in green or tan—are exceptionally rare and prized by collectors due to their limited production and specialized use. These buckles were issued to Enlisted Men and NCOs serving in warmer climates.
The front of the buckle retains sharp detailing with a pleasing, untouched patina and traces of the original dark green factory paint. The reverse side remains remarkably well-preserved, with approximately 80% of the original field gray-green paint still intact. The attached leather tab is soft and supple, clearly marked and dated 1941.
A fantastic and rare example of an original tropical Luftwaffe belt buckle—an excellent addition to any serious WWII German militaria collection.
