Original Third Reich Pre-War SA Four Pocket Tunic With Breeches-
This is a striking and well-preserved example of a pre-war SA (Sturmabteilung) four-pocket dress tunic, accompanied by what appear to be unissued brown SA breeches. Together, they form an impressive uniform set, ideal for display in any advanced Third Reich collection.
Tunic Overview: Constructed from high-quality brown wool, the tunic remains clean and free of moth damage, with no nips or tracking observed. The fabric still retains its original nap, adding to its visual appeal. The tunic features four correct pebbled metal closure buttons on the front placket, all intact.
The shoulder boards are of the sewn-in type, suitable for a rank range of SA-Mann to Obertruppführer, featuring black and white soutache on a steel green base—likely indicative of SA-Gruppen Nordsee or Kurpfalz. The collar is piped in matching black and white, but the collar tabs have been removed, suggesting possible period rank demotion, reissue, or simply display alteration.
The French cuffs are adorned with a thin double row of silver tresse, a feature typically associated with higher-ranking enlisted men or NCOs.
Insignia & Armband: Affixed to the wearer's left sleeve is an early, high-quality wool NSDAP armband. While the armband is in excellent condition with no visible damage, it appears to have been adjusted and resewn, possibly for a tighter fit, and may not be original to this tunic.
On the left upper breast pocket is a Gold SA Sports Badge — a fine touch of distinction and authenticity.
The tunic’s reverse shows the classic tailored "Rock" cut, complete with the original rear-buttoned belt holders still present and in excellent condition.
Interior Details: The interior is fully lined in a goldish rayon, which shows only slight staining on one side—a minor cosmetic flaw. An RZM cloth tag is sewn inside the inner pocket, though only about 25% of it remains intact.
This tunic measures approximately a size 36 chest and is in excellent overall condition.
Breeches Overview: The matching SA brown wool breeches appear to be in unissued, mint condition. All buttons are present and secure, with no signs of wear.
Inside, there is a partial light blue cotton lining, and a size stamp "50" is visible. On the inner wool, there is a clear RZM marking that reads:
N.S.D.A.P. RZM
Original
Sturmabteilung-Stoff
Farbebraun Modll
This stamp appears within an off-white bordered rectangle, verifying authenticity.
At the base of the legs are original gray HBT ties, all intact and untouched.
Summary: This is a high-quality, well-preserved example of a pre-war SA dress uniform, complete with matching breeches. The tunic presents beautifully, with strong visual appeal and period-correct detailing throughout. The breeches are in pristine, unissued condition, rounding out a very desirable set for collectors or historical display.
The tunic would benefit from the addition of properly researched, original rank collar tabs to complete its presentation. An excellent representative example of early SA attire—ready to display with pride.
