Original M40 Waffen SS Single Decal Helmet Q64-
This is an outstanding original example of a Waffen SS M40 helmet, manufactured by Quist and marked Q64, with a batch number that appears to be T1341 (last digit unclear). The helmet retains approximately 90% of its original dark field gray, lightly textured factory paint with minor scratches and rust spots.
The Quist style SS decal remains about 75% intact, with most of the chipping focused on the SS runes. The decal has developed a beautiful natural toning patina, giving it a slightly golden hue that adds to its authentic aged appearance.
All three split pins are tight; however, one shows significant paint loss with surface rust, while the other two have minor paint chipping.
The interior retains most of its original factory paint.
The liner is an original replacement, complete with its original drawstring, showing consistent wear and age matching the helmet. Though used, it remains supple and is size-marked 56. It is fitted in the original 1941 dated liner band, size 56/64, which is original to the helmet.
The chinstrap is original and was added, featuring a clear inked stamped maker mark and 1943 date. Also a stamping of 371 at the tip of the chinstrap.
Waffen SS helmets are among the most sought-after items in WWII German collecting due to their rarity and value, and this example is a textbook Quist M40 SS single decal helmet in very good to excellent condition.
