Restored Original German WWII Luftschutz M42 Helmet NS64- We received this M42 "Beaded" helmet shell and had an original Luftschutz liner with attached leather chinstrap that only can fit M35, M40 & M42 Beaded helmets. We also had the original split pins and cork and plastic washers. We put the liner and using the pins and washers to restore this helmet shell. The helmet shell is NS64 and has factory cracks when it was made. The factory would make these helmets into beaded helmets for Luftschutz and Fire/Police. The helmet does have a factory weld and is painted over with the black factory paint, which tells us that it was period done. There is a crack near the front. The liner is the cloth type and is 100% there, but the fingers have been ripped at the tips dues to age or wear? Factory black paint on the inside and outside of the helmet is still mostly there. A good restored helmet with a nice history of what the helmet factory did with defective combat helmets.
