Original German WWII M35 Kriegsmarine Battleship Gray Camouflaged (Ex Double Decal) Helmet ET64- Meticulously hand-brushed in Battleship Gray, this Kriegsmarine M35 conceals both the Kriegsmarine and Tri-Color decals. Notably, the outline of the Kriegsmarine decal, particularly the swastika, becomes visible at certain angles. Hairline cracks on the surface allow glimpses of the underlying Tri-Color decal.
Interestingly, there's evidence of someone scratching a swastika onto the helmet's exterior dome, perhaps unaware that the original decals were already covered. Internally, the helmet exhibits paint on the visor and flared rim, with traces on the aluminum-reinforced liner band, dated 1938. The dome retains its original apple green factory paint, featuring a faint black inked dome stamp, authenticating its wartime origin.
The leather liner, in a pleasing golden brown, remains intact, embodying the helmet's historical resilience. The original 1940-dated chinstrap remains fully intact, underscoring the completeness of this wartime relic and is original to the helmet. However, the drawstring, bearing the scars of time, is damaged and incomplete. With the lot number 4047 and marked ET64, this helmet aligns seamlessly with the production of double-decal Kriegsmarine M35 helmets. In overall excellent condition, it serves as a tangible connection to a significant era in history.
