Original German WWII Heer Steel Buckle With Leather Combat Belt- Buckle features a smooth outer field with central, high relief, embossed Wehrmacht eagle with down swept wings to slightly domed center, encompassed by an oak-leaf cluster to bottom and script, "Gott Mit Uns", (God with us), to top. Oak-leaf cluster and script are on a ribbed background and encircled by an inner and outer simulated twisted rope border. Buckle retains about 15% of its original field-grey paint and has a good amount of surface rust on the outside. The back of the buckle is a mirror image of the front and retains about 90% of the factory paint  It has a brazed buckle catch, prong bar and prongs all intact. It is faintly marked with manufactures code and date B&N 40, indicating manufacture is Berg und Nolte of Ludenscheid and was made in 1940.  The leather belt is well used and someone put a rivet, which we removed because the thread was coming apart.  Still retains the inner tongue for the buckle with some thread separation.  Marked as size 95cm and has someones initials on the inside of the belt.  Appears to be a pre-war belt.  The belt can be restored and we could have our leather repair guy use original thread to repair it if the new owner wants this at an extra cost.  Good condition.
