Original German WWII Kriegsmarine High Seas Fleet Badge by Schwerin & Sohn, Berlin (Fec. Adolf Bock / Ausf. Schwerin Berlin)

Instituted on 30 April 1941, the High Seas Fleet Badge was awarded to Kriegsmarine personnel who served on capital ships (battleships, cruisers, and pocket battleships) and took part in major operations or demonstrated exceptional service at sea. Designer Adolf Bock—a noted maritime artist—based the central motif on the battleship “Bismarck”, creating one of the most striking award designs of the Third Reich.

This is an original WWII Kriegsmarine High Seas Fleet Badge (Flottenkriegsabzeichen), produced by Schwerin & Sohn, Berlin, one of the earliest and most desirable wartime makers. The reverse is clearly stamped “Fec. Adolf Bock / Ausf. Schwerin Berlin”, referencing the badge’s designer and the prestigious Berlin firm responsible for its manufacture.

The badge is die-struck from tombak (brass alloy) and retains much of its original two-tone finish—a bright silvered battleship emerging from darkened waves, surrounded by a gilt wreath topped with the German eagle clutching a swastika. The contrast between the silvered ship and gold wreath is a hallmark of early Schwerin production, showing fine detail and a high-quality strike.

The reverse retains its factory-applied finish with correct block hinge, broad vertical pin, and flat wire catch, all intact and original to the piece. The maker and designer markings are deeply and crisply stamped beneath the hinge area “Fec. Adolf Bock / Ausf. Schwerin Berlin.” We advise carefully handling pinbacks with caution due to their age.

Overall remains in very good to excellent condition with a well-preserved finish.
