This is a pair of original German WWII national hand flags mounted on their original wooden poles. These small flags were commonly used during political rallies, parades, and public gatherings, where they were distributed to spectators and participants to display support during official events.
Each flag is constructed of red cotton cloth with a separately applied white roundel and a screen printed swastika. The flags are double-sided, allowing the design to be visible from both sides when displayed. The cloth is sewn around the wooden pole forming a sleeve attachment. Each flag measures approximately 22cm x 17cm (8.5" x 6.5"); poles are 62.8cm (24.75").
The original wooden poles retain much of their original black painted finish. One pole topper is missing. The poles show typical age and finish wear consistent with period use and age.
Both flags show honest age, including light staining and minor wear to the cloth, but remain in overall very good displayable condition. A nice pair of period hand flags that display well and make an attractive addition to any militaria collection.
Overall good condition with age and use as shown. Sold as a pair.
