Original German WWII M40 Luftwaffe Normandy Camouflage Ex-Full Chicken Wire Basket Helmet ET62- This was brought back from a US Vet. It is a Luftwaffe M40 helmet that was hand brushed while the full chicken wire basket was on the helmet. You can see the factory Luftwaffe blue paint from the wear and tear on top of the helmet. The tan base coat was first and then the brown and green were applied. You can see some of the outlines of the chicken wire all around the helmet. The liner is still fully intact, but has seen some hard use and storage. One spring on the inner band is broken, but still there. Remnant of the chinstrap is still there. The long end of the chinstrap is held on by a string and the short is there, but the gray steel buckle is loose. On the inside rim this is tan paint brush or rag splotches with the soldier’s initials “F K” in two spots on the inside rim.
