Rare Desirable Original Early Third Reich SS Dagger By C. Bertram Reinh-

This is an authentic early-production SS dagger manufactured by C. Bertram Reinh, Solingen, one of the scarcer and more desirable early SS makers.

The blade retains its original bright cross-grained finish with light runner marks from the scabbard. The acid-etched SS motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue” (“My Honor is Loyalty”) remains deeply struck and crisply defined. The reverse bears the early C. Bertram Reinh maker’s logo, properly etched high on the ricasso—a hallmark of pre-RZM production.

The crossguards are solid nickel-silver and display a pleasing, even patina. The grip, which is not original to this dagger, is most likely of Carl Eickhorn manufacture. It is crafted from dark hardwood and shows light handling wear, with a slightly loose fit to the guards. The nickel SS roundel and eagle inlay are original and well-seated, showing some minor corrosion. The pommel nut exhibits marks from pliers, likely from a previous attempt to remove or replace the wooden grip.

The scabbard retains its original factory black anodized finish, showing light age spotting and normal wear from service use. All nickel fittings are intact, uncleaned, and secured by the original screws—completely untouched since the period.

Overall, this is an excellent example of an early SS dagger by the rare maker C. Bertram Reinh, displaying genuine age, character, and honest wear. Despite the replaced grip, it remains a highly desirable early-production SS dagger, ideal for any advanced edged-weapons or SS collection.
