Original German WWII Luftwaffe M40 Single Decal Helmet Q64 This is an original German WWII Luftwaffe M40 single decal combat helmet, produced by Quist and marked Q64, indicating a size 64 shell. The lot number is present on the rear interior skirt and matches expected Quist production for this period. Although the helmet shell is unmarked, it exhibits all the characteristics of a Quist.
EXTERIOR Shell: The exterior retains its original factory-applied blue Luftwaffe finish. The surface shows quite a bit of wear, oxidation, and scattered areas of minor surface rust patina consistent with long-term storage and service use. The paint remains largely intact with natural aging throughout. The M40 model is identified by its stamped ventilation holes and rolled edge. The shell size is 64, a desirable and collectible size. Decal: The single Luftwaffe eagle decal is still present on the left side and remains clearly visible, showing expected wear and light flaking from age. Split Pins: All three split pins are original and fully intact, retaining the majority of their factory-applied paint, with minor chipping consistent with age and service wear. INTERIOR Shell: The interior surface shows quite a bit of wear, oxidation, and scattered areas of surface rust patina consistent with long-term storage and service use. Liner: The interior retains its liner band and leather liner; however, the leather is heavily worn and there is some damage to one finger. Portions of the liner are torn and separated, consistent with age and dryness. The liner band remains in place. Chinstrap: The chinstrap bales are intact, but unfortunately the leather chinstrap is missing. CONDITION The helmet displays well and retains strong character with its original single decal and factory finish. This helmet is being offered as is. Certain symbols have been censored.
