This is an original German WWII Luftwaffe M40 single decal combat helmet, produced by Emaillierwerke Fulda and marked EF60, indicating a size 60 shell. The lot number is present inside the rear skirt. The helmet retains its original wartime factory-applied second model Luftwaffe eagle decal, which shows noticeable damage from the application process. This type of factory-applied decal flaw is commonly encountered especially with second-model Luftwaffe decals.
The exterior retains its original textured blue-gray wartime combat paint, showing honest service wear, scattered abrasions, and patina from age. The finish remains completely original with no signs of post-war over painting.
Inside, the helmet still has its original leather liner, which is either a size 52 or 53, but the ink stamp on the liner finger is very faint. The leather shows age, dryness, and wear along the edges but remains complete. The original drawstring is present. The chinstrap is missing.
A solid, untouched Luftwaffe M40 from EF with a factory-applied second-model eagle decal, an excellent representative example of a mid-war Luftwaffe combat helmet. Just needs a chinstrap to complete it.
