Original German WWII Heer Steel Belt Buckle with Tab -- C.W. Motz & Co. Dated 1941

This is a textbook, untouched, service-used example of the German WWII Heer enlisted man’s steel belt buckle, complete with its original 1941-dated leather tab by C.W. Motz & Co., Brandenburg, one of the desirable wartime suppliers of buckle accoutrements.

Crafted in stamped steel, the buckle displays the classic “Gott Mit Uns” central motif with the Wehrmacht eagle over a finely executed oak-leaf wreath. The steel surface shows a well-developed, even field patina with areas of worn factory fieldgray finish and light oxidation, precisely the sort of unaltered aging collectors expect from a buckle that clearly saw field service. The reverse is untouched, retaining the original catch, prongs, and roller bar, all bearing matching patina and untouched surfaces.

The attached leather tab remains firmly sewn in place, showing textbook wartime stitching and natural soft wear from long use. The maker mark is faint and double-struck, typical of Motz’s impression dies, with the date “1941” still crisp and fully legible. Though worn, the oval stamp form and letter curvature leave no question as to its authenticity or manufacturer. The leather itself has developed the deep, smooth texture and rich tone expected of an honest, uncleaned wartime tab.

All components are original to the piece, with no postwar cleaning, tampering, or replacement parts—an increasingly difficult attribute to find in Heer buckles of this period. The buckle and tab remain a matching, untouched wartime set, offering excellent character and a strong sense of true field use.

A premium example for collectors seeking a buckle with authenticity, history, and the unmistakable presence of a genuine combat-used piece.
