Original German WWII Cotton Gas Cape Bag (Gasplane Tasche) Name Tag, SS Material Tabs
This authentic Gas Cape Bag was designed to carry a "Gas Cape" (Gasplane)—a protective fabric used by soldiers to shield themselves from chemical gas attacks during combat.
Constructed of cotton material, the bag retains its characteristic soft feel. The exterior shows minimal period wear, including hardly any surface soiling and some creasing throughout. The flap is secured by 2 pressed paper buttons, both present and firmly attached. A hand-sewn name tag reading is present under the closure flap (Pic 2, 3, 5). Also on the inside are Original SS material reinforcement tabs on the inside (Pic 3-5). The reverse side features 2 attached fabric loops. There is a pin-size hole about 1/2" from the right button.
Overall remains in very good condition.
