This is an authentic cotton Gas Cape Bag (Gasplane Tasche), designed to carry the issued “Gasplane”—a protective covering used by soldiers as defense against chemical agents in the field.
The bag is constructed of a soft, cotton canvas-type material and retains a supple, flexible feel. The exterior shows little to no period wear, with minimal signs of use and minor surface soiling or creasing. The closure flap is secured by two snaps, both present and firmly attached, exhibiting only minor rust. The reverse side features two original fabric loops. The bag itself does not appear to be maker marked.
Included is a paper-type gas cape, which remains present inside the bag. The cape retains its original manufacturer tag marked “ewj” and appears to be dated “44,” as shown in the photos.
Overall, this set remains in very good condition.
