Original German WWII Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1939, or EK2) Paper Packet with Award Insert Fragment
An original German WWII Iron Cross 2nd Class paper packet, correctly marked “Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse”. This packet was issued to house the Iron Cross 2nd Class medal and ribbon at the time of award.
The packet shows honest age / wear, including creasing, edge wear, and paper loss, consistent with age and handling. The reverse retains the original printed maker or distributor stamp, still legible despite wear, Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Hanauer Blakettenhersteller (Working Group of Hanau Plaque Manufacturers).
Included with the packet is a fragmentary original award insert, reading “Tapfere Auszeichnung für Angehörige der Ost…” and “2. Klasse in Silber.” The insert is heavily worn and incomplete, but remains an original period document fragment that adds historical context.
This packet and insert is in mostly fragile condition.
