Original German WWII Luftwaffe Paratrooper Badge By Assmann & Söhne (L/64)-
This is an original late-war Luftwaffe Paratrooper Badge (Fallschirmschützenabzeichen) manufactured by Assmann & Söhne of Lüdenscheid, one of the premier producers of Luftwaffe qualification awards.
The badge is a zinc construction, featuring a dark gray wreath and a silvered eagle diving downward clutching a swastika. This is the Assmann “mould 2” variant, with the integral hinge, pin, and catch setup cast directly into the wreath, a characteristic of Assmann’s later-war zinc production.
Much of the original silver finish on the eagle remains visible, providing excellent contrast against the darker wreath. The reverse is maker-marked with the Assmann logo and L/64, indicating late-war production under the LDO (Leistungsgemeinschaft der Deutschen Ordenshersteller) contract system.
The badge remains in excellent condition for a zinc example, free of damage or repairs and exhibits the distinctive design quality and fine detailing typical of Assmann’s workmanship.
A genuine and desirable example of a late-war Luftwaffe Paratrooper Qualification Badge, representing one of the elite branches of the German Luftwaffe.
