Original German WWII M31 Zinc Helmet Liner Size 66/59 & Dated 1943

This is an original late-war German M31 helmet liner featuring the correct zinc liner band, introduced as a material-saving measure beginning in 1940–41. The liner is marked “66/59” for a size 66 helmet shell and a size 59 leather liner. The band also retains a clear 1943 date stamp along with the maker’s DRP-marked manufacturer stamp, consistent with mid to late-war zinc liner production.

The leather is complete and retains all eight fingers with their original vent holes. As typical for wartime vegetable-tanned leather, it shows dryness and surface cracking, especially around the edge. Some minor wear, discoloration, and edge flaking is present, but the leather remains structurally intact with no major tears.

The zinc band shows scattered rust spots, light oxidation, and age toning, all consistent with honest wartime use and storage. The chinstrap bale is still securely attached. Does not come with a drawstring.

A solid example of a late-war M31 liner, ideal for completing an original M40 or M42 size 66 helmet shell in very good condition.
