Original German WWII M35 Heer Double Decal Helmet Q64

This is an original German M35 Heer double decal helmet, manufactured by Q (Quist), size 64. It bears clear signs of wartime service while remaining in very good to excellent condition overall.

EXTERIOR
Shell:
The M35 shell retains the majority of its original apple/pea green factory finish, estimated at approximately 90–95% coverage. The paint shows scattered scratches, minor abrasions, and small areas of wear consistent with normal wartime use. Subtle traces of whitewash residue are visible around the vent holes, split pins, and in proximity to the Tri-Color decal, indicating the helmet may have once been lightly camouflaged during winter conditions.

The Heer eagle decal remains approximately 85% intact, showing moderate wear and flaking primarily toward the upper portion of the eagle, while the Tri-Color shield remains exceptionally well preserved at roughly 99%, retaining excellent color and definition. The rolled edge of the M35 shell remains clean and well formed, with no visible damage. All three original liner split pins are present and retain most of their original apple green paint, displaying only very minor chips and wear on some.

INTERIOR
Shell:
The interior of the helmet retains approximately 98% of the original factory apple/pea green paint, showing minimal wear and very light age toning. The shell is stamped Q64, indicating manufacture by Quist, and the lot number 1880 is clearly visible on the rear interior skirt. A very faint dome stamp dated 1939 is also present.

Liner:
The helmet retains its original 1939 dated aluminum reinforced liner band fitted with a size 56 leather liner. The leather remains complete with all fingers present. While the leather shows some dryness from age, it remains relatively supple and structurally sound. One of the rear liner fingers clearly displays the ink stamped size “56.” The helmet also retains its original drawstring, which remains intact.

Chinstrap:
The helmet retains its original chinstrap, though it is broken. The remaining sections still attached to the liner band bales retain their original metal studs, showing typical age and wear but remaining firmly in place.

CONDITION
Overall, this helmet remains a very strong example of a German WWII M35 Heer double decal helmet. It retains a high percentage of its original factory paint, both decals remain well preserved, and the interior liner, drawstring, and liner band remain original and intact. The subtle traces of whitewash camouflage further enhance the helmet’s historical character and suggest authentic wartime field use. With its excellent level of originality and strong display appeal, this helmet represents a desirable and collectible example for advanced German helmet collectors.
