Original Third Reich State Service Flag (Kriegsmarine Reichsdienstflagge) by KRESS St. Tönis – 80cm x 135cm
This is an original WWII Reichsdienstflagge (State Service Flag). These flags were flown on official government buildings, administrative offices, and other state facilities during the Third Reich.
The flag is constructed of a red cotton field with a screenprinted State Service roundel and eagle. The printed details remain sharp with only minor age-related wear. The white reinforced hoist edge is fully intact and still retains its original rope loops along with the metal hanging clip.
The hoist is maker marked “Reichsdflg. 0,80 x 1,35” indicating the size, and “KRESS St. Tönis” for the manufacturer. There is also an inspector’s Kriegsmarine ink stamp featuring an eagle within a circle with a swastika and an “M” underneath on the edge near the rope loop. The flag shows normal period use with some scattered spots and light stains throughout. There are a few small holes in various spots. The colors remain strong, and all stitching is tight and secure.
This is a solid and well-preserved, fully original WWII State Service Flag with excellent display presence. Authentic maker-marked examples have become increasingly difficult to find in this condition.
Measures approximately: 80cm x 135cm (31.5" x 53")
