Military driver's licenses (Führerscheine) were issued to soldiers who had completed training and passed an examination for operating specific vehicles. These licenses were categorized into three classes:
Early in the war, these licenses were printed on grey oilcloth and typically included a photograph of the driver. However, as the war progressed and resources became scarcer, photos were often omitted due to supply constraints.
This 1942 Wehrmacht Führerschein is a 2nd Class driver's license issued for truck operation. It was granted by the Kraftfahr-Ersatz-Abteilung school and signed by a Hauptmann. The document includes a securely affixed photograph of the soldier wearing an M36 Feldbluse, with visible shoulder boards featuring cyphers, collar tabs, and a breast eagle. Despite its age, the license remains in very good condition, showing only minimal signs of wear. A remarkable piece of WWII history, ideal for collectors.
