This is an original, untouched German M17 helmet from World War I, featuring its original steel liner band. The helmet retains approximately 80% of its original factory paint both inside and out, showing typical discoloration from combat use and long-term storage. The paint exhibits expected wear consistent with age and field use.
The original metal liner band remains securely in place and is accompanied by all three original split pins. The helmet is maker marked EF64, indicating manufacture by Emaillierwerke Fulda in size 64. While the chinstrap is missing, the original metal fittings remain attached to the chinstrap posts.
