Original German WWII M35 Heer Reissued Single Decal Helmet Q68
This German WWII Heer M35 reissued helmet was originally factory finished in apple green and produced as a double decal example.
EXTERIOR
Shell:
The M35 shell retains much of its original apple green factory finish, which became visible after the later wartime textured repaint was removed. The surface displays scattered scratches, scuffs, and areas of wear consistent with service use and age. Evidence of the former dark field-gray textured overpaint can be observed in protected areas and subtle remnants across the shell.
The Heer eagle decal remains partially intact at approximately 65%, displaying wear, abrasion, and flaking. Despite the loss, the eagle design remains identifiable and provides strong visual character. The tri-color decal was removed during wartime reissue, leaving only faint traces of its former placement. The vent holes, rolled edge, and overall shell profile remain crisp and undamaged.
All three original liner split pins remain present and appear undisturbed, showing light oxidation consistent with age.
INTERIOR
Shell:
The interior retains its original wartime paint with light age toning and scattered wear. The side skirt is stamped Q68, indicating manufacture by Quist, and the lot number 3267 is also present and legible in the rear.
Liner:
The helmet retains its original 1937 dated non-reinforced aluminum liner band, fitted with a size 61 leather liner. The leather liner remains complete with all fingers present and retains its original drawstring. The leather shows typical age toning and light dryness but remains structurally sound and displays well.
Chinstrap:
The helmet retains its original leather chinstrap, still attached to the liner band. The leather has shrunken somewhat with age and shows typical dryness and wear but remains intact and displays well with the helmet.
CONDITION
Overall, this M35 Heer reissued helmet remains a solid and historically interesting example. The helmet clearly demonstrates its wartime life cycle, from an original double decal apple green helmet to a wartime reissued single decal example with textured overpaint. Despite the later removal of the reissue paint, the helmet retains its original liner, drawstring, chinstrap, and identifiable decal remnants. With its Quist Q68 shell, early aluminum liner band, and wartime reissue history, it makes a desirable and collectible example for advanced German helmet collectors.
