Original Japanese WWII Officer's Leather Map Document Case
This is an authentic Japanese leather map/document case. It is hand-stitched, and embroidered with a five-pointed star. This denotes that the owner was of officer rank within the Japanese military. This is an earlier version of the map case, as later versions were embroidered with a circle instead of a star. It remains in good overall condition, with much of the leather fairly supple. A gentle cleaning and conditioning would further enhance its appearance. There is some cracking along the sides of the closure flap, and one side shows traces of paint. The front closure keeper is broken and unsure if it can be fixed. The shoulder / carrying strap is not included. Measures approximately 30cm x 19cm x 5cm. Overall still in good condition.
