The Original German WWII Luftwaffe Ground Assault Badge, established in 1942, was awarded to members of the Luftwaffe Ground Divisions (Feld-Divisionen) who participated in military operations supporting land armed forces, including paratroopers. The criteria for the award included involvement in various war actions, as well as injury or death sustained during these operations.
Crafted by C.E. Junckers in Berlin, the badge features an oval oak leaf wreath tied at the bottom by a ribbon, topped by a Luftwaffe-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika. It also depicts a storm cloud with a stylized lightning bolt striking the ground. The back has a barrel hinge and vertical pin-back meeting a round wire catch with base. Although not maker-marked, it possesses all the characteristics of “C.E. Juncker, Berlin S.W.” The badge shows age and possibly very minor wear but is in excellent condition overall.
