This example is manufactured from lightweight aluminum, consistent with pre-1939 and very early wartime production, before the transition to zinc. The obverse features the classic “GOTT MIT UNS” legend surrounding the Army eagle and wreath, set against a finely pebbled field with a sharply defined rope border.
The reverse is of correct plain aluminum construction, with an integrated rectangular catch and rounded roller bar, typical of period Sieper manufacture. Although unmarked, this is correct for many original Heer buckles produced by Richard Sieper & Söhne. The buckle shows honest period wear and natural patina, with no damage or repairs, and retains strong overall detail.
A very solid, original example of a pre-war Heer aluminum belt buckle, suitable for any advanced WWII German militaria collection.
