Original German WWII SS Dagger By Böker Full Ground Röhm Inscription With Vertical Hanger
This is an original German WWII SS dagger produced by Böker, Solingen, featuring a fully ground Röhm dedication and complete with its original SS marked vertical leather hanger.
Grip & Fittings:
The grip is the correct early dark-stained hardwood, displaying honest age, handling wear, and a pleasing period patina. It retains a properly seated enamel SS roundel typical of Böker production, along with a sharply detailed nickel-silver high-neck eagle.
The wood grip shows expected period wear, including several hairline cracks, small chips, and areas of finish loss, particularly around the lower crossguard, as seen in the photos. Despite this, the grip remains solid overall.
The dagger is fitted with early aluminum crossguards, which appear to be maybe post war replacement, as early Böker examples are more commonly encountered with nickel-silver fittings. That said, the mounts themselves are original and display consistent age and patina.
Blade:
The blade shows a well-defined motto, “Meine Ehre heißt Treue,” which remains clearly visible despite overall wear. The blade surface exhibits moderate to heavy wear, including greying, scattered spotting, and loss of the original finish and crossgraining.
The reverse displays the small Böker Solingen tree logo. The Röhm inscription has been completely ground, leaving a smooth, even surface that appears consistent with it being period factory done.
Scabbard:
The scabbard retains much of its original anodized finish with some lacquer finish. The fittings are nickel-plated and remain in good condition, matching the dagger well overall. The scabbard is structurally sound.
It should be noted that the scabbard fits slightly loose to the blade, which is not uncommon on examples that have seen age or finish wear..
Hanger:
The dagger is complete with its original vertical black leather hanger. The leather shows heavy wear, dryness, and surface cracking consistent with age. The reverse is SS 1/34 RZM marked, and the hanger remains complete with its nickle silver hardware intact, though clearly well-used. The hardware is marked "A" for Assmann & Sohn and “DRGM,” indicating registered design protection.
Portepee:
Not included.
Condition:
Overall, this is a solid and honest Böker SS dagger featuring a desirable full ground Röhm inscription and original vertical hanger. While showing clear signs of age, wear, and use—including grip damage, blade wear, and replacement crossguards, it remains an authentic and desirable example with strong display presence and collector appeal.
Due to the crossguards not being original to the dagger, the value is reduced accordingly. A comparable Böker SS dagger with original matching fittings and a full Röhm ground inscription would typically fall in the $4,000–$5,000 range. This example is priced appropriately to reflect the noted discrepancies while still offering strong collector appeal.
