Rare Original Third Reich Book “SS Kavallerie im Osten” (1939–1942)-
This is an original Third Reich-era publication titled “SS Kavallerie im Osten”, documenting the Waffen SS Cavalry operations on the Eastern Front between 1939 and 1942. The book was compiled under the direction of Oberscharführer Werner Rücktaschel and illustrated by Obersturmführer Walther Schädler, with numerous wartime photographs and color artworks depicting the campaigns of the SS Cavalry Brigade.
The contents include operational maps, vivid field reports, and images chronicling the Brigade’s movements through Poland, Belarus, and Ukraine, highlighting life at the front, training, and combat actions. Many photographs and sketches were provided by SS Kriegsberichter (war correspondents). The opening map illustrates the march route of the SS Kavallerie Brigade, while subsequent sections feature narrative text, propaganda-style tributes to fallen comrades, and photo plates showing key figures such as Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler.
This example shows moderate age wear and foxing to the covers and spine, typical of wartime publications. The book retains strong internal pages with clear photographs and artwork, though the original dust jacket and cardboard slipcase are missing.
A scarce and historically important SS publication, sought after by advanced collectors of original Third Reich military books and Waffen SS documentation.
