This is an original SA Sports Badge (Sportabzeichen) in Bronze, introduced in 1933 as a physical fitness award and later adopted as a state-recognized decoration. The bronze grade was awarded for meeting the required athletic standards.
The badge features the classic design of a vertical sword over a swas., enclosed within an oak leaf wreath. The obverse retains good detail throughout, with an even bronze-toned finish showing natural age and light wear.
The reverse is maker marked “W. REDO” and “SAARLAUTERN,” identifying production by W. Redo of Saarlautern. Also present is the correct inscription “Eigentum d. Obersten SA-Führung,” indicating official issue.
The badge retains its original hinge, pin, and catch assembly, all intact and functional. The hardware shows typical age and light oxidation consistent with period use.
Condition is very good to excellent overall, with some scattered finish wear and minor oxidation, including light verdigris in areas, but nothing that detracts from the overall display.
