Original German WWII SS NCO’s Degen (Unmarked)

A fine and correct example of the SS Non-Commissioned Officer’s Degen as worn during the Third Reich period. This example features an unmarked blade and construction consistent with SS controlled production, commonly attributed by advanced collectors to manufacture at Dachau. During the period, SS Degens were produced outside the traditional Solingen guild system, and unmarked examples such as this are widely accepted as SS supervised manufacture.

The nickel-plated steel hilt retains its proper oval knuckle bow with smooth, elegant lines and an even, lightly toned finish. The grip is of ribbed wood construction, remaining tight and undisturbed, with natural age wear commensurate with service use. The grip ferrule is sharply detailed with the correct oakleaf motif, while the pommel cap is fitted with inset SS runes displaying crisp form and matching patina.

Notably, the original leather blade buffer remains intact, a desirable and increasingly uncommon feature, confirming the sword has not been disassembled or altered.

The straight steel blade is well preserved, retaining a bright finish with only minor scuffing consistent with careful storage. No maker mark is present. The blade shows no edge damage, nicks, or abuse and seats tightly within the hilt.

The original black painted steel scabbard remains straight and undamaged, retaining the majority of its factory finish. Light surface wear and small areas of paint loss are present, entirely consistent with age and long-term storage.

An honest, untouched SS NCO Degen displaying correct construction, materials, and patina throughout. A quality example suitable for inclusion in a serious SS edged weapons collection.
