Original German WWI Honor Cross for Non-Combatants (Hindenburg Cross) – Marked “G6” with Ribbon
An original German WWI Honor Cross for Non-Combatants, officially instituted in 1934 to recognize civilian and non-frontline service rendered during the First World War. This example is the non-combatant variant, correctly without crossed swords.
The cross is constructed of bronze-finished metal and features the standard obverse design with a laurel wreath surrounding the central dates “1914 – 1918.” The details remain clear, with even wear and natural age toning consistent with period manufacture and long-term storage. The reverse is plain, as issued, and is clearly maker marked “G6” (unknown maker) at the upper arm. The suspension ring and ribbon ring are original and undisturbed.
The medal is complete with its original black, white, and red non-combatant ribbon, which remains intact and displays honest age wear, including light staining and toning consistent with age.
Overall, this medal and ribbon are in good condition.
