Rare! Original US WWII M1 Fixed Bale Helmet & Inland Manufacturing Liner With HBT & White Rayon Suspension
Offered is a rare original US WWII M1 front seam fixed bale helmet complete with its original Inland Manufacturing liner featuring the desirable transitional early war mix of khaki HBT and white rayon suspension system. This helmet is in nicely preserved condition.
The shell is an early fixed bale example retaining the majority of its original olive drab cork-textured finish. The finish remains nice overall, showing only light service wear, scattered handling marks, and minor abrasions consistent with age. The web chinstrap is present and intact, with correct period hardware.
The helmet is fitted with an original Inland Manufacturing liner, clearly marked with the Inland logo (photo 16). The liner retains its desirable early khaki HBT and white rayon suspension remaining complete and in excellent condition. The suspension HBT webbing is clean and strong, with only minor age-related wear visible. The original leather/white rayon sweatband remains present and serviceable, showing expected age and use but in overall excellent condition. The leather chinstrap is present and retains good flexibility, exhibiting age-related wear and some verdigris around the hardware. Retains the original white rayon nape/neck strap marked "J4" and in excellent condition. The painted liner exterior remains exceptionally clean, retaining most of its original olive drab finish with only minor handling marks.
Overall this set is a rare find and in excellent condition.
