This is an authentic WWII-era Fixed Bale Front Seam M1 Helmet, complete with its original web chinstrap. The helmet shows clear signs of service use while still retaining a good amount of its original OD Green paint with a cork-textured finish. There is some wear along the outer edge, along with scrapes and minor rust spots at the top of the dome. Inside, rust circles are present due to water settling over time.
The original helmet net is a two-tone variety, featuring both brown and green colors. It has two rips/tears at the top of the net (see photos).
The helmet includes a Mine Safety Appliance Co. (MSA) marked liner with early fixed webbing that remains intact. However, some original components are missing:
The liner’s exterior paint has been repainted over the original factory finish. It is unclear whether this was done during the war or post-war. Despite this, the liner remains in very good overall condition.
