Unissued Original US WWI Pick Axe Head Carrier (Dated 1918)
This is an unissued authentic Pick Axe Head Carrier, manufactured by H.&P. and dated November 1918. Constructed of heavy khaki canvas webbing, the carrier features reinforced stitching, a retaining strap with buckle, and a metal belt hook for attachment to the M1910 cartridge or pistol belts.
The pick head fit securely inside the main sleeve, while the handle was carried separately using the web carrier strap system. These were standard issue to engineers and infantry troops for entrenching and field construction tasks. The webbing remains strong and supple, showing only light service wear and minor surface soiling. Clear maker’s mark and date stamp “H.&P. 11-18” are visible on the rear.
