Original WWII Imperial Japanese/China Incident War Medal
An original Imperial Japanese China Incident War Medal, issued to commemorate service during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945). This example is a solid, honest piece retaining excellent detail and strong original character.
The medal is struck in bronze and features a rich, even patina developed over time. The obverse displays a finely detailed eagle beneath the Imperial chrysanthemum crest, flanked by crossed flags, all sharply defined with minimal wear. The suspension element, incorporating a stylized bird motif, remains fully intact and well-preserved.
The reverse depicts a mountainous landscape above stylized waves, with clear kanji inscription below translating to “China Incident War Medal.” The details remain crisp and easily legible, indicating light overall wear.
The medal is complete with its original ribbon and suspension bar. The ribbon retains strong, vibrant coloration with its multi-striped pattern, showing only minor age-related wear. The suspension bar is clearly stamped with Japanese characters consistent with period manufacture, and the original pinback attachment remains intact and functional.
