Description

Original German WWII M35 Double Decal Camouflaged Luftwaffe Ex-White Washed Helmet Q66-

This exceptional Luftwaffe helmet encapsulates a long and storied service throughout the war. Originally manufactured as a double-decal helmet, it underwent multiple field modifications. It was first camouflaged with a textured gray paint accented by green splotches, later whitewashed for winter camouflage, and then had the whitewash partially removed to reveal the underlying camouflage again.

The faint outline of the Second Model Luftwaffe decal remains visible beneath the camouflage, while remnants of the tri-color national shield decal peek through cracks and chips in the paint. The interior retains a good portion of its original factory-applied paint, showcasing its authenticity.

The helmet's zinc replacement liner bears heavy signs of combat use, with a damaged drawstring and a split section in the front of the leather, likely from wartime wear and tear. The chinstrap is marked, though the maker's name is illegible. Adding a personal touch, the soldier's rank, last name, and unit number (L06165) are hand-painted in off-white on the interior.

The unit history links this helmet to significant wartime operations:

  • Mobilmachung (1.1.1940): 6. Luftnachrichten-Fernsprech-Bau-Kompanie FFK (mot.).
  • Luftnachrichten-Regiment 2 (2.1.1940–27.4.1940): 1. Kompanie, Luftnachrichten-Regiment 12.

This helmet exudes combat character, telling a tale of a soldier who saw intense action across varied theaters of war. Its combination of camouflage layers, visible decals, and historical inscriptions makes it an outstanding collector’s piece.

Condition: Very good overall, with lots of character and wear indicative of a life on the battlefield.
