Unissued Original German WWII Waffen SS 29th Grenadier Division (1st Italian) Collar Tab
An original SS enlisted/NCO collar tab as worn by members of the Italian volunteer formations serving within the SS. The tab features the distinctive embroidered fasces insignia in silver-gray thread on a black wool backing, representing the Italian Fascist symbol utilized by these units. These non-Germanic SS volunteers were not authorized to wear the standard SS runic tab, and instead were assigned specific national emblem SS tabs.
This example is of the desirable Dachau-made variety, featuring characteristic period construction with fine machine embroidery on ribbed black wool and the original stiffener retained on the reverse. The embroidery remains crisp and well defined, with the small red accent thread still visible near the axe head.
The tab shows slightest age and handling, while the reverse retains its original stitching and construction details. Overall, it remains in excellent condition and displays very well.
