Original German WWII Award Document & Medal War Merit Cross 2nd Class With Swords Signed by Generalfeldmarschall Kesselring-
This is an original award document for the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords), issued in July 1940 to Oberleutnant z. D. Edwin Krzeesaldo von Lindenstand, serving with Stab Luftflotte Kommando 2. The document bears the handwritten signature of Generalfeldmarschall Albert Kesselring, who at the time held the position of Chef der Luftflotte 2 und Befehlshaber Nordwest. The document remains in excellent condition.
The accompanying War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords is a die-struck bronze bravery award, featuring a Maltese-style cross with a circular centerpiece. The obverse displays an embossed, canted swastika encircled by a detailed oak-leaf wreath, while the reverse centerpiece bears the embossed date "1939", also surrounded by an oak-leaf wreath. The cross's arms have a pebbled background with raised, smooth outer edges, and the swords, signifying bravery, extend upwards between the arms of the cross. The ribbon suspension ring and medal loop remain intact, and the medal is complete with its original ribbon.
A highly desirable and historically significant award document, personally signed by Generalfeldmarschall Kesselring, paired with an excellent condition War Merit Cross.
