Original Weimar Republic Era Reichswehr Buckle With Marked Leather Tab Dated 1930-
A pre-Third Reich (1919-1933) belt buckle, constructed from silvered bronze. The obverse features a raised Heer-style German national eagle, encircled by a ribbed ring or rope bearing the inscription “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD WITH US”) and laurel branches. The reverse is equipped with a functional roller with attachment prongs, along with a catch. It is unmarked. A nice example buckle worn by both Reichswehr and early Wehrmacht Heer personnel, preserved in very good condition. The attached leather tab is manufactured marked, dated 1930 and stamped "Pi" indicating it was issued to a "Pioneer" unit . The tab is a little stiff from use and age, but still in very good condition.
