*Extremely Rare* Original Pre-WWII E.S. Robert Ley Maiden Voyage Cruise Ship Cap Tally (White)This is an extremely rare original German Pre-WWII Maiden Voyage ship cap tally (hat ribbon) for the Kraft durch Freude (KdF) cruise ship E.S. Robert Ley. Maiden Voyage tallies were produced in white, distinguishing them from standard issue tallies, and were issued in very limited numbers, making surviving originals exceptionally scarce today.
White Maiden Voyage tallies for named KdF ships, especially Robert Ley, are among the rarest variations encountered, and are seldom offered for sale, particularly as unquestioned original Third Reich examples.
This original tally is constructed of white cotton/rayon woven material with BeVo style woven Gothic script reading “E.S. Robert Ley”. Both ends are finished with embroidered KdF flags, each featuring a central black swastika surrounded by red radiating rays, machine embroidered directly into the ribbon.
This example shows honest wartime wear including staining, ink transfer, edge fraying, and several areas of fabric loss and tearing, all consistent with age, poor storage, and period use. Despite these condition issues, the lettering and flag emblems remain clearly identifiable, and the tally retains strong originality and character.
