Original German WWII Luftwaffe M40 Single Decal Helmet Q66

This is an authentic German WWII Model 1940 Luftwaffe single decal combat helmet, manufactured by Quist (Q) and marked Q66.

EXTERIOR
The exterior retains the majority of its original textured Luftwaffe blue-gray (feldblau) combat paint, with minor scrapes, scattered scratches, and traces of light surface oxidation.

The second pattern Luftwaffe eagle decal remains approximately 99% intact, with small factory application flaws at the tip of the eagle’s tail and the swastika.

INTERIOR
The interior retains nearly all of its factory-applied Luftwaffe blue-gray paint. The inside skirt bears the maker and shell-size marking Q66, rear skirt bears the lot number “T1249”, corresponding to Luftwaffe helmet production.

The complete leather liner displays attractive light brown toning from age and wear. It is size stamped 58 and retains its original drawstring. The reinforced aluminum liner band is dated 1941 and fitted with zinc chinstrap bales. An original unmarked leather chinstrap is present, but it is not original to this helmet.

CONDITION
Overall, an excellent wartime-issued Luftwaffe M40 helmet with substantial original paint, a nearly complete eagle decal, and a well-preserved leather liner. The minor wartime factory decal flaws and the chinstrap being a later addition to this helmet should be noted.
