Original German WWII Heer Officer's Dagger By WMW (Waffenfabrik Max Weyersberg) With Hangers & Portepee
This is an original German WWII Heer (Army) Officer’s dagger manufactured by WMW (Waffenfabrik Max Weyersberg). It comes complete with hangers and portopee.
GRIP & FITTINGS:
The dagger features a deep orange grip. There is a hairline crack in the center of the grip (Photo 13). The silver finished pommel and crossguard retain nice detail, with some minor age toning and finish wear.
BLADE:
The double edged blade remains straight. It does appear that the blade has been polished at some point in time. There are visible surface scratches and pitting throughout. The blade is maker marked WMW Waffen (Waffenfabrik Max Weyersberg) near the crossguard (Photo 7). The tip remains intact.
SCABBARD:
The original steel scabbard retains its pebbled finish with decorative oak leaf suspension bands. There is some age toning, light scratches, and minor surface oxidation. Both suspension bands and carrying rings remain intact. No major dents.
PORTEPEE:
The original silver bullion portepee remains attached and shows some age discoloration and fraying to the cord. The acorn remains complete.
HANGERS:
The matching Heer officer's dagger hangers feature silver colored woven fabric with brown velvet backing. The metal fittings retain nice detail with some age toning and oxidation. The fabric shows some discoloration and wear, while the velvet backing has noticeable wear. Both hangers remain complete.
Shows normal age and service wear but remains in very good condition.
