Original German WWII Luftwaffe Flak (Anti-Aircraft) Badge By Gebrüder Wegerhoff *U.S. Vet Bringback*
This is an original German WWII Luftwaffe Flak Badge (Flak-Kampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe), awarded to Luftwaffe personnel for participation in anti-aircraft combat.
The badge is constructed of silvered zinc and features a detailed 88 mm anti-aircraft gun surrounded by an oakleaf wreath and surmounted by the Luftwaffe eagle. Much of the original silvered finish remains on the front, with light wear, toning, and a few small areas of oxidation consistent with age. Most of the finish has worn from the reverse, exposing the gray zinc base metal.
The reverse retains its original vertical pin, hinge, and catch assembly, all of which remain intact. It is clearly maker marked with the circular “GWL” logo for Gebrüder Wegerhoff of Lüdenscheid.
This badge was acquired as a U.S. veteran bringback. Overall, an excellent original example from a desirable and well-known maker.
