Original German WWII Silver Mother's Cross (Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter) Without Ribbon
This is an original German WWII Silver Mother's Cross (Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter), awarded to German mothers who bore and raised six or seven children in recognition of their contribution to the nation. Instituted by Adolf Hitler on December 16, 1938, the decoration was formally presented each year on Mother's Day and became one of the most recognizable civilian awards of the Third Reich.
The cross features the classic blue and white enamel design with a finely detailed silvered radiating starburst backdrop. At the center is a black enameled swastika surrounded by the inscription "DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER" ("To the German Mother"). The reverse is engraved with the presentation date "16. Dezember 1938" above Adolf Hitler's facsimile signature, with the small engraved presentation mark below.
This example remains in excellent condition, retaining vibrant blue and white enamel with no noticeable chips or cracks. The silvered finish is well preserved, exhibiting an attractive age patina that enhances its original appearance. The suspension loop remains intact, ready for the attachment of a ribbon.
The medal is offered without its original ribbon.
