Original German WWII War Merit Cross 2nd Class Without Swords & Medallion (Unfinished)Both pieces appear to be production-stage examples, likely originating from a manufacturing facility. The War Merit Cross 2nd Class without swords is constructed of base metal with a bronze finish, displaying the correct 1939 date to the reverse witth wreath and swastika on the observe. The arms of the cross have some excess metal on the outlying edge, which were not removed. Also the holder was never soldered on for the ribbon ring.
The accompanying circular medallion features the central swastika on the obverse and is reverse marked “Für Kriegsverdienst 1939” and the holder for the ring was never soldered on for the ribbon ring.
Both pieces show age toning, oxidation, and areas of verdigris, consistent with long term storage and handling.
