Original German WWI Black Wound Badge (Unmarked)
This is an original unmarked German WWII Black Wound Badge (Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz). The Black Wound Badge was instituted 1918 and was awarded to military personnel who sustained one or two combat wounds or suffered injuries while serving under enemy action.
The steel badge retains portions of its original black finish, with considerable finish loss and some minor wear to the high points exposing the underlying metal. The front displays an attractive, naturally aged appearance with scattered surface oxidation and patina throughout.
The reverse features the correct hardware all of which remain intact and fully functional. No maker code found.
Condition: Very good overall considering it's age.
