Original German Pre-WWII H-Jugend & Deutsches Jungvolk Training Booklets Lot of 4
This is an interesting lot of four original Third Reich-era H-Youth and Deutsches Jungvolk instructional booklets published by the Reichsjugendführung der NSDAP (Reich Youth Leadership) through its Amt für weltanschauliche Schulung (Office for Ideological Training).
These booklets were produced as educational and instructional material for organized youth meetings rather than simply as commercial magazines. Several are from the “Die Jungenschaft” series, described as “Blätter für Heimabendgestaltung im Deutschen Jungvolk” (approximately “Instructional Sheets for the Organization of Home Evenings in the German Jungvolk”). The Deutsches Jungvolk was the junior boys' organization within the Hitler Youth structure.
The lot includes four different issues covering historical, cultural, ideological, and leadership subjects. Titles include “Der junge Otto von Bismarck” (The Young Otto von Bismarck), “Wieland fliegt in die Freiheit” (Wieland Flies to Freedom), and “Deutscher Kämpfer in fernen Zonen” (German Fighter in Distant Lands/Regions), along with an additional related youth instructional booklet. The Der junge Otto von Bismarck issue is marked Ausgabe A, Folge 16 and dated May 17, 1939.
Of particular interest are the attractive and varied period cover designs, including portrait, Germanic, geographical, and youth-oriented imagery. The reverse of the booklets bears the publication information:
“Herausgegeben von der Reichsjugendführung der NSDAP. Amt für weltanschauliche Schulung. Druck: Wilhelm Limpert, Berlin SW 68.”
Translated:
“Published by the Reich Youth Leadership of the NSDAP, Office for Ideological Training. Printed by Wilhelm Limpert, Berlin SW 68.”
All four booklets show normal age and handling consistent with original period publications. There is some toning, staining, edge wear, and other minor age-related wear, but overall the group remains in very good condition considering its age. The colorful and unusual covers display particularly well.
A nice original grouping of period publications illustrating the instructional and ideological material distributed to members and leaders of Germany's youth organizations during the Third Reich.
Sold as a lot of four.
