Original German WWII SA Sports Badge (Sportabzeichen) In Bronze by Fechler (Damaged)
This is an original German WWII SA Sports Badge in Bronze (Sportabzeichen), one of the most iconic political awards of Pre-WWII. Originally instituted by SA Chief of Staff Ernst Röhm on November 28, 1933, the badge was awarded to individuals who successfully completed a demanding series of physical fitness, military proficiency, and endurance tests. In 1935, the award was officially recognized as a national decoration and became available to both military personnel and qualified civilians.
The badge features the classic SA sword superimposed over a mobile swas., enclosed within a detailed oakleaf wreath tied with ribbon at the base. The majority of the badge front and back is tarnished.
The reverse is marked “FECHLER” and “BERNSBACH,” along with “EIGENTUM DER OBERSTEN SA-FÜHRUNG.” The pin is intact, but unfortunately the catch assembly is broken off.
Aside from the broken pin assembly it is still in good condition and worthy of display. Please refer to photos for additional details and actual condition.
